Mango, Turmeric & Ginger Smoothie

This is a delicious, vegan mango, ginger and turmeric smoothie. It is made with a blend of mango, pineapple, ginger and ground turmeric, and is a beautiful way to start any day.

Turmeric helps fight inflammation and improve circulation. Which is often an underlying factor in reproductive disorders, including PMS and endometriosis. So why not try a delicious smoothie with benefits?

The active compound in turmeric is called curcumin, which is what makes turmeric so healthy and good for us. However, our bodies are unable to absorb sufficient quantities of curcumin when we consume it just by itself. However, we can improve absorption by adding a pinch of freshly ground black pepper and a small amount of fat to the recipe.

Why Use Black Pepper & Oil In Turmeric Recipes?

One of the active components in black pepper, piperine, is known to help us absorb curcumin when eaten together.

The reason for using oil or another fatty substance is because curcumin has poor solubility in water. In other words, for us to get the most benefit, turmeric needs to come in contact with fat to be properly absorbed.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen mango
  • ½ cup pineapple chunks
  • 1 cup filtered water
  • ½ tsp ground turmeric
  • 1 tsp MCT or coconut oil
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • ⅛ tsp ground black pepper

Optional

  • ½ tsp magnesium powder
  •  1 tsp Inulin powder
  • ½ Inositol powder
  • 1000 mg N-Acetylcysteine powder
  • 1 tbsp collagen peptides or other protein      

Method

    Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend on high speed until smooth.
